闪电豚鼠是经常出没于各大草原层级的后室独有哺乳动物，按照前厅生物分类，其应该归为啮齿目豚鼠科豚鼠属。豚鼠头大，颈短、耳圆、无尾，四肢较短；全身被毛，毛色丰富多彩，皮毛紧披，富有光泽。豚鼠机灵、活泼、温顺，肥胖可爱，胆小易惊，受惊时会发出“吱吱”的尖叫声。

行为

闪电豚鼠喜群居，爱吃、爱睡、爱繁殖、喜爱在草地中打滚。闪电豚鼠以杂草为主食，青草、野花、坚果等都是它们喜欢的食物。研究发现，当闪电豚鼠食用野花后，其头顶会开出一朵一模一样的野花，这朵野花会维持45min，然后凋落。

此外，闪电豚鼠还能吸收电力，其吸收电力的方式有咬开裸露的电缆、以自身电势差接引雷电、吞食瓶装闪电以及主动寻求流浪者帮助。一只闪电豚鼠能储存的电力能量最高为10¹⁰焦耳。在闪电豚鼠完成电力充能后，其皮毛上会迸发出电火花，并具备1000-1300m/s的极速，但保持这种极速十分消耗能量，一只完成充能的闪电豚鼠只能维持极速30s左右。闪电豚鼠还能以电弧的形式直接将储存的能量释放出来，消灭威胁到闪电豚鼠的任何生物。
